SOo i'm doing this gig for community service, it's called senior meals on wheels.
Basically I scoop chicken salad and jellied apples and et cetera into little TV trays on a conveyor belt as they move past. it's basically the same stuff I did when I worked in the kitchen at pcc. it's not bad at all, really. except for the gossipy old women who are dying to tell me of their latest bit of juicy news! and getting up early. i don't like that either.
but, only fourty hours! i have one, maybe two, meetings with my probation officer, a week or two of community service, then... i'm done! off probation! thank God...
in other news, i think i'll want to volunteer somewhere else too... it sounds really really good, i like it. i was talking to this guy from latin american services, he does meals on wheels, but spanish food... he seemed really cool. he also does this thing where he employs unemployable inner-city kids, for his landscape business, a mentoring program where his customers are apartment complexes and et cetera. i really love that idea.
i think i'll end up starting a non-profit sometime in my life, maybe not too far away. just to do my part, find my little niche in society and make my change.
i like that much better than just blindly and vaguely attempting to 'change things'... i like grass-roots, community change more.
anyway, between twelve-hour days and getting ready for the future, i'm stayin pretty busy. but...
you'll hear from me soon...
